This is my first year at Whatcom, and my second full-time quarter. I'm with the Running Start program like one or two others here, and I'm also very pleased to be a representative on the student council here at WCC. I'm originally from Canada (Ontario region) where I spent the first five years of my life before my family moved down here to the United States, and finally Washington State in April of 2001. I'm 16 and my favorite hobbies are reading, writing, drawing, fencing, soccer and paintballing, though I also like video games, snowboarding and chess.
My favorite music is alternative rock, with metal and classical being a close second. I like independent films as opposed to big-budget movies because they are much more thought provoking and interesting.
My favorite form of writing is when writing on an online message board. I prefer to write in a clean, open space, with few or no other people around. I also like to write at home in a similarly quiet area. I mostly write speculative philosophy and short stories. I am happiest when writing to improve my writing skills or for catharsis.
The purpose for my writing is to be creative and act as an exercise for my inner thoughts. Writing a journal helps me focus and spearhead my thoughts in a constructive way. I am highly protective of my anonymity when writing, as it lets me provide a voice without a label. It does take time from practicing for my sports, but if I did not write, I would use another media form (such as drawing) to express myself in a similar way.
It's good to meet you all!
