" We used to have an intellectual ideal that we could contain within ourselves the whole of civilizations." We believed that we would get smarter due to the internet, because we have so much information at our figure tips. But Carr implies its just the contrary that has happened, saying " We're becoming panecake people, with wide access to information but no intellectual depth, because theres little need to contain information within our heads when its so easy to find with a mouse click or two." There is no need to summarize this because it kind of does that itself, we absorb so much information its hard to really contain any of it.

"I guess it comes down to what you value about human intelligence and, by extension, human culture" Is intelligence tapping into huge amount of information as possible ? Or is intelligence stepping back from that information, and thinking about it ? Carr believes its better to have less information, and more thoughtfulness. " I certainly want information, but information isn't an end unto itself."
