Today on television everyone has seen commercials even gone through the ones that have been so boring to watch. Commercials are an interruption to what shows we are viewing. Everyone has seen commercials from persuading you to buy something to making a donation. I analyzed the commercial about Dr. Pepper when Dr. Dre advertized for them. At the beginning, it shows Dr. Dre taking a can of Dr. Pepper from a girl waitress and pouring it into a glass. He explains that when you drink Dr. Pepper slow, the 23 flavors of Dr. Pepper taste even better. Everybody has heard of 23 flavors being in Dr. Pepper, but are there really that many. Dr. Pepper blends their flavors together to make it seem that there are 23 flavors being delivered in one Dr. Pepper can or bottle. Dr. Dre is promoting his new album, Detox, when he says, “Slow always produces a hit.” There is a disc jockey playing some fast music and no one is dancing. Than Dr. Dre comes over and asks the disc jockey to move over and than he places the Dr. Pepper can on the turn table and the music plays all slow and everybody is dancing. Dr. Dre than says, “Slower is always better. Trust me, I’m a Dr.” Dr. Dre isn’t calling himself a real doctor, but he is a doctor when it comes to music.
This advertisement is persuading us to buy Dr. Pepper and see how great the taste of 23 flavors in your mouth is. Drinking slower can cause the taste to increase which is why he is promoting slow. This advertisement requires the knowledge of knowing what Dr. Pepper is because everyone knows what Pepsi and Coke is, but Dr. Pepper isn’t as famous as them. This advertisement also requires you to have a taste of Dr. Pepper because if you don’t know how the taste is, you won’t know how good the soda really is. It also requires music background in order to know who is advertising the commercial. It is Dr. Dre and also requires a history on the promoter. He is releasing a brand new album and is promoting it on a Dr. Pepper commercial. The slow song when Dr. Dre puts the Dr. Pepper can on the turn table is one of his new songs coming out. This advertisement needs quite a bit of knowledge to what the product is and who is promoting the product.
