in class writing

In the Scholes essay he makes some very good points on the budweiser commercial. The things he says really catch your attention, he makes the point on how commecials manipulate us and show us certain things in order for us to do certain things like buy a product. In the Scholes writing he analyzes this budweiser commerical in which a black umpire makes it a long way into the baseball ranks and goes through many hardships in order to get there. One particular part of this reading that I found was when Scholes says how video text needs to be taught in all schools. Why i found this interesting was because he really makes a point on how commercials can manipulate us and get us to buy a product based on what the commercial is telling us to buy. Commericals really try to appeal to as many groups of people as they can in one 30 second time slot in order to sell more to everyone. Scholes analyzes the budweiser commercial very well and gives great insight into what the ad is trying to tell us. I really believe that Scholes is right and that we need to take a better look at ads and see just how they are trying to manipulate and appeal to us through various methods, they will do all they can in order to get us to buy there product. I completley agree with the point that Scholes makes here and have no disagreeements to what he is trying to convey.
