Tylenol Commercial Analysis

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDXtq7TL5Vo

This commercial is for Tylenol with their newest slogan, "feel better". I've seen this commercial many times on television and I stuck in my mind because of the unique lighting and the simple canvas being the human body. Portraying the perfect body figure was absolutely not the focus of this commercial. They were catering to the audience that may not look like a model, but has an average body. They catered to such a wide spread audience because the product they are selling is for everyone that needs it. Not just superficial models that are half the size of an average American. A broad age difference was used to again, cater to the very broad audience of human beings. One of the selling lines is "Tylenol believes the right pain reliever for you is one that works with your body to target pain without irritating your stomach like Asprin or Ibuprofen can." By mentioning the ways your product can compete with other common products, it makes the consumer notice that Tylenol is the better choice. Understanding that all humans have pain no matter what shape, size, age, or gender connects with the most broad audience possible. Also the soft music in the background makes for a comfortable atmosphere and a friendly approach to introducing the product.

On the other hand, saying that you will "feel better" when you take Tylenol is not always the case. That could be promoting drug use as well, but that is a very extreme way to analyze this commercial. However, people could make these claims down the road. For now, I think that Tylenol helps with join and muscle pain because of prior use, but for people that have never used this medication and only see this commercial, another message could be sent into their minds.
