In the Micheal Welsch video he seems to claim that technology is corrupting us, he also seems to point out that school is boring students and that we are not being taught properly. In the video many students hold up signs that talk about how in class they are on their laptops most of the time on their facebook or myspace. they are not even paying attention to what the teacher is saying so they are not learning. So if that is the case then school just seems like a big waste of time. The students in the video also talk about how much sleep they are missing out on because of school which to me seems about right because they are missing out on learning in school so when they get assigned their homework they spend all night figuring it out.
This topic is very important to me as a student becasue of the fact that i agree with what most of the students are saying on their cards. I have to deal with many of the same things that they are dealing with and they are all problems. School is pretty boring most of the time so when i see that other people think the same things its a little more comforting. In school I just go through my classes everyday and cant wait until the end of the day when its over, which is a bad mind set to have. I wish that school was just excting and I wanted to be there everyday but thats not the case. Which is no ones fault because educating is hard to do

ReplyDeleteDillon, I have to agree with you that class can be quite boring. The world has changed so much over the past few decades. However, the education system remains the same. I believe our interests are genuinely at the center of modern day teachings, yet professors tend to use traditional teachings. I'm already asleep just talking about it... I feel that the majority of school has been a waste of my time. Yet I still go because I know the importance of an education is in life. I feel the best ways to learn are by finding things I like to do on Youtube or Google, and then learn either by observation or physically doing it. You don't know how to do something until you actually do it. You might have an idea of how it's done by reading it in a book, but not really.. I feel that techers should use more Youtube in class descions....
