My name is Ben Upper, I am a running start student as well. I attend the college part time and then I spend the rest of the day at Ferndale High School. I work part time at Ferndale True Value, and spend the rest of my time tinkering with my Chevy Luv. I also like to work on other cars or whatever I can get my hands on. I have also earned the rank of Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. Camping, hiking, fishing, hunting, and pretty much anything to do in the outdoors are some of my other favorite past time.
Part II
The most common type of writing that I do is scholarship essays. For scholarship essays I try to sell myself to the reader, there are no second chances or revisions. It is an opportunity to tell the reader about my character and personality. When I am in the process of writing these essays, I do not force the writing. I write whenever an idea comes to mind. I choose to write in this certain process because I prefer to give it a lot of thought. Just coming up with a quick response to the writing prompt doesn't provide a very good finished product. This kind of writing makes me think about myself as a person and the person I have and haven't become. This writing helps me as a person because it causes me to think about my actions. This is also the downfall of this writing because then I am always thinking about how my actions will represwent my character.
